White Mountain Wedding

Jackson Village, New Hampshire

Bride: Kimberly
Groom: Shawn

Date: August 1, 2009
Location: The Wentworth InnJackson Village, New Hampshire

When Shawn got down on one knee to propose to Kimberly, she walked away and told him to stop teasing her. Little did she know he really meant it. He asked first in American Sign Language, which Kimberly teaches. But she was covering her eyes! He asked again, "Will you?", and she agreed.

When Shawn and Kimberly sat down to decide on what they wanted most from a wedding venue, they realized it had a lot to do with being close to family. Kimberly's grandmother had recently passed away from Alzheimer’s and she was having a difficult time knowing her grandmother wouldn't be present at the wedding. The next best thing was to bring the wedding to her.  Kimberly's grandmother was buried in Northern New Hampshire by a house that had been in the family for generations, so they decided to look for a venue in that area. When the couple pulled into The Wentworth on a whim, they were surprised to fall in love with the location and chose it for their destination wedding.

Personal touches were a large part of this couple's wedding planning process. Instead of favors, they decided to give a donation to the Alzheimer's Society as both Kimberly and Shawn lost their grandmothers to the disease. Emphasis was placed on the welcome bags for guests.  Included in the bag was Green Apple Riesling, bottled and monagrammed for each guest from IncrediBrew in Nashua, NH,  Moose Munch, Monadnock spring water, various maps of the area, a things to do list, maple candies, pretzels and dipping sauce from Zebb’s General Store in Conway, NH, maple hot tea, Tuckerman’s Ale, and various other items representing New Hampshire.

Both Kimberly and Shawn’s parents had the same wedding song, "Time in a Bottle". The DJ played the song and called both sets of parents to the floor.  Shawn and Kimberly enjoyed watching the love their parents had for one another, as well as all the guests they loved in the room.  Having the opportunity to celebrate two marriages the couple looks up to was truly wonderful.  Kimberly and Shawn danced the night away ending the celebration with all the guests on the dance floor singing "Sweet Caroline".
